ABSTRACT

Contribution claimants mainly (though not exclusively) fall into four categories: (a) concurrent debtors; (b) co-sureties; (c) insurers; and (d) those concurrently liable for the same damage at common law (that is, concurrent tortfeasors and contract-breakers), and trustees jointly liable for the same breach of trust. However, since the latter two are now covered by statute, they will be dealt with together.
