ABSTRACT

Part I of this book was concerned with the use of the civil law to provide compensation to those who have suffered personal injury at the workplace. That part was named ‘Civil Liability’ and that title is not in dispute, because it is clear that, if individuals are to be entitled to claim compensation from the wrongdoers who have caused them injury, such claims must lie in the civil courts. It is not so apparent that the criminal law should be used to bring about safe workplaces to ensure that personal injury is not caused by activities at the workplace.
