On February 16, 1999, the world woke up to a piece of news that caught everyone off guard except a few high-level officials and intelligence servicemen. Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of PKK, a Kurdish ethnonationalist organization, was captured by Turkish commandos in Kenya and was on his way to Turkey to face charges of treason, murder, and crimes against humanity. 1
