In March 2000, the Steering Group published Modern Company Law For a Competitive Economy – Developing the Framework, a consultation document over 400 pages long, setting out the main areas for review and putting forward a range of specific proposals for reform. These include extensive reform proposals specific to private companies, the most important of which are set out below.
