ABSTRACT

The Center for Minority Group Mental Health Programs (CMGMHP, or the Center) was established as part of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in November 1970, and it ceased formal operations in 1985. During that fifteen-year period, it was the nucleus of NIMH research, manpower development and training, and technical assistance activities judged to bear on the mental health status and improvement of the quality of life of minority group people in the United States—American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Blacks, and Hispanics.
