ABSTRACT

As well as learning about the case studies described in the preceding chapters, we have worked with lecturers in many institutions who are faced with rapid increases in student numbers and who need to redesign their courses to cope. We have seen innovations both succeed and fail and have seen courses declining in quality where no changes have been made. From our experiences we have tried to pull together some general guidelines for the consideration of anyone teaching larger classes with reduced resources and who cares about quality.
