Miss French was in this wine bar last night with her friend-‘No, not Sam’. He had all these horror stories about house-buying. ‘Have you insured?’, said the friend. ‘You should have done. Mark my words, as soon as you sign the contract the house will be burnt down. I’ve seen it happen. And you will still have to pay. Once the contract is signed, vendors don’t care. They will move out if it suits them and squatters will move in. And all this earth warming that’s happening. I’ve been reading about it. The earth is drying out and houses that have stood for years are just collapsing.’
