ABSTRACT
Some recent Acts contain a section known as a statement of principle and which sets out the purpose or purposes of that legislation. Such a statement of principle section is considered in Chapter 11. The present chapter considers the method of interpretation by reference to the purpose of the Act whether or not there is a statement of principle section in the Act.
