ABSTRACT
On those occasions when the government of the country is being discussed it is not unusual to hear references to ‘the Crown’. The impression, therefore, is that it is the Crown which undertakes a great deal of the government of the country, but it may not always be clear what is meant by this expression and what are its legal and practical consequences.
