ABSTRACT

There is always a purpose to any learning group activity. It may be quite specific, the aim being to illustrate or demonstrate an idea or theory. It can be to help in working together, as in so-called ‘ice-breakers’ for example, activities often intended to be on the lighter side to help people through the initial discomfort or strangeness of working in a different way or with people who are unfamiliar to them. Or the purpose may be more exploratory, intended to generate material for discussion around a chosen topic.
