The general rules on civil liability are set out in Articles 41-61 of the Swiss Code of Obligations. The standard of care for personal injuries is based on fault and reasonableness.1 However, some areas of negligence are governed by regimes of strict liability. Particular types of harm include the following basic characteristics:
