In cases relating to minors (persons under 18), court approval is necessary for any settlement once proceedings are instituted.
Reimbursement to the State of some of the benefits paid to the plaintiff as a consequence of the accident is made by the compensator (the defendant) to the Compensation Recovery Unit. This system is currently under review.
