ABSTRACT
Bertie is an accountant who decides to become a bursar at £12,740 pa at a public school following his redundancy from one of the large firms of accountants. He is especially pleased to find that he is offered rent free accommodation. He gave his house to his ex wife as part of a clean-break settlement in exchange for no maintenance for her or their 11 year old child. His ex wife decides to give up work as she has moved in with the senior partner of his old firm who earns £300.000 pa.
