ABSTRACT

For a vocal side, Walter reached back to 1941 for a number done by both Jay McShann and Dr. Clayton, the now-standard "Confessing the Blues." Walter gives a very literal reading of McShann's recording vocally, with some nice B. B. King-influenced guitar backing from Tucker, and Leake on droning organ. Walter's fine, forceful vocal is abetted by solid if relatively unspectacular harp work. The sides were released as Walter's next single in March; it failed to chart nationally.
