ABSTRACT

Most law firms have by now accepted that running a law firm is the same as running any other business and that the same principles of business apply. As for the client, this does not mean that going to law is the same as going shopping to the town centre where the product and price are the only determinant factors in influencing the customers’ perception of value for money. Going to see a solicitor is done because a client wants to achieve a benefit or solution and much of that will depend on the personal input and skills of the lawyer he consults. The client may be in a distressed or anxious state or is vulnerable to potential loss or has suffered some form of loss or injury. The relationship, therefore, is important to him and its success will depend on a number of attributes being present.
