ABSTRACT
Although benign tumours may produce significant problems by compression of local normal tissue and may – depending upon their site – become lifethreatening, they pose, in general, much less threat to life than do malignant tumours. As a general principle, the earlier tumours are discovered and treated the better the prognosis for the patient. Delay in diagnosis may therefore give rise to claims for compensation.
