ABSTRACT

A call for proposals is a written text calling on interested parties to submit proposals for a specific project or a specific pool of funds. Such a call for proposals, also referred to as request for proposals or RFP, typically defines the necessary specifications to prepare and submit a proposal, e.g. thematic priorities, deadlines, structure of proposal, etc. Some calls are widely publicized and addressed to any interested party, while others are of more limited scope, sent to a smaller audience of eligible parties. This tool is used by foundations and other types of grant-making non-profit organizations, as well as governmental and intergovernmental agencies.
