ABSTRACT

This chapter recounts how, under the auspices of the Enterprise in Higher Education (EHE) initiative a module has been developed at the University of North London for students on the BA (Hons) English pathway within the Humanities modular scheme. It will seek to demonstrate how the module has been developed in response both to the changing definition of English studies and to the needs of a changing student profile. In this way the 'enterprise skills' and the employment awareness that the module (among other things) seeks to develop in students become an integral part of the curriculum and not an adjunct or polarity, posing a potential conflict of interest or blurring of focus for the students concerned.
