ABSTRACT
Thanks to the heavy VC/PAVN casualties of Têt, Allied forces held the initiative in 1968 and made serious inroads into VC/PAVN-controlled areas. Although Communist influence in the rural areas of South Vietnam was seriously weakened and their harsh requisitions of manpower alienated many peasants, the Viêt Công infrastructure remained largely intact.
