ABSTRACT

Getting started on writing a book is often the hardest part of the process. You need to convince yourself that the things that you know about and that interest you will matter sufficiently to other people to make publication worthwhile, and then you have to get down to it. In choosing a topic for a book, there is always a balance to be struck between your needs and those of the reader. For example, you may have completed a research degree in the area of assessment or evaluation within science courses, and found the subject of your dissertation interesting. However, it is likely to require a complete rewrite and reorientation of the way you approach the subject before it becomes interesting to a larger group of readers.
