Mr Wood’s employer offered him a job abroad just as Mrs Wood returned from the hospital after relatively major surgery:
H: We found out six days after the surgery. W: He looked at me . . . he had this look in his eye . . . I knew
something was up, and it was that we had an opportunity to live in Switzerland. I was so ill that I wasn’t happy or sad. I was just struck with a little bit of fear and a little bit of happiness. I don’t know what I felt.
