ABSTRACT
Specified Bovine Material includes the head (including the brain, but excluding the tongue), spinal cord, spleen, thymus, tonsils and intestines of bovine animals over six months of age. These tissues are required to be removed from the human and animal food chains because our knowledge of BSE and other transmissible spongiform encephalopathies indicates that they are the tissues most likely to harbour infectivity.
