ABSTRACT

Into this arena stepped another even newer/even older set of stories. This time the breadth of the story seemed wider, so that we saw more but also felt much smaller. Most of us were less in thrall to the great men down our streets than before. Yes, they terrorized us, but they could never regain their lost giant status. As they grew smaller, we suddenly found that we could see around them. The rest of the world was coming into view and we began again to see that all our lives were in thrall to powers far larger than ourselves. After we had exposed the claptrap powers of our Wizard of Oz rulers, we realized that the real power lay elsewhere.
