ABSTRACT

What we have tried to describe in this book is the end of the age of education and training and the beginning of the era of lifelong learning. As a necessary companion to the age of information, it will allow us to understand better its implications for the lives of every one of us and allow the human race to develop its potential in more positive ways that hitherto. Already commentators are looking at the world as it is and predicting descent into a new dark age of the human spirit – mean-minded, aggressive, parochial, utilitarian and without the ideals that allow us to reach for a more civilized way of coexisting on this small planet.
