ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we give a brief overview of the main assessment methods in regular use. As far as possible, we confine our discussion to the main uses of each method. In Chapter 10, we discuss how to choose which method to use when. Chapters 14—21 go into more detail on how to design assessment items for some of these methods.
