ABSTRACT

In the last chapter, we reviewed a range of assessment methods and briefly looked at the main characteristics of each. In designing an assessment, the next question that arises is how to choose which method to use for any given outcome. In this chapter, we discuss how that choice might be made. In our previous discussion we classified certain methods as quasi methods. In debating whether or not to omit quasi methods from tins chapter, we decided that they were best left in, even though, from some points of view, such methods are nearer to being learning methods than assessment methods.
