ABSTRACT
This chapter begins with a closer look at characters, including the definition of character constants and the operators used with character data. The intrinsic functions LEN, LEN_TRIM, TRIM, IACHAR, ICHAR, ACHAR, CHAR, LGE, LGT, LLE, LLT, ADJUSTL, ADJUSTR, INDEX, SCAN, VERIFY, and REPEAT are explained.
