ABSTRACT

The aims of the research project need to be reviewed both initially and during the research process. Learning from the research process itself can enable constant self-improvement to occur; that is, when the opportunity arises to carry out research again, the researcher can build on previous experience, both good and bad! Consequently, the research design and research process should be better than previous attempts. An opportunity should also be taken to review the ethics of the research. Consider too the extent to which respondents, at some point in the research, could be made part of this reflective process. This can be achieved either in the form of informal meetings or by correspondence when the research is completed. Finally, a part of the process of reflection ought to involve some consideration of how the results of the research disseminated to the wider academic and social community.
