ABSTRACT
Hall et al. (1973) have produced the most comprehensive evaluation of the effects of past British planning policies to date. They showed that the main effects of post-war British planning had been containment, suburbanization, rising land and property values, reduction in the rate of economic growth and the regressive distribution of physical environmental advantages and disadvantages, and also opportunities for the acquisition of wealth and income.
