ABSTRACT
This book has attempted to show that many of the all too lightly dismissed criticisms of British planning are justified by the available empirical evidence. The comparison with less planning activity in California was used to show not only what the effects of planning have been in Britain but also that more rigorous urban containment has led to more justification of the criticisms of the effects of planning.
