ABSTRACT

By now it is evident that being a journalist means a whole lot more than being employed by a specific media organization. It is a vocation, a culture, a way of being that permeates every aspect of the practitioner’s life. Journalists tend to move around a lot from company to company and do not always stay within the mainstream media. They relish the challenge of utilizing their skills in various capacities. In this section, we will look at newsgathering and newsmaking organizations which employ journalists and which do not directly publish or broadcast themselves but instead service those industries.
