ABSTRACT

The patient was a 52-year-old man who developed epilepsy at the age of 45 years. The only type of seizure he experienced was non-convulsive status epilepticus of focal temporal onset. Over the course of the preceding 7 years, the seizure frequency had increased to one seizure every 3 days. In between seizures, the patient was able to care for himself. However, during the seizures the patient stayed in his flat until the seizure activity ceased. There was incomplete amnesia for the period of the seizure.
