ABSTRACT
As indicated in Table 4.1, the group of
obesity complications that principally cause
‘morbidity rather than mortality’ also contains
some factors that epidemiologists would
recognize as being strongly related to
cardiovascular disease. Thus depression and
mental health problems are epidemiologically
linked to cardiovascular mortality in the general
population. The same could be said of social
disadvantage and low levels of physical fitness.3
