ABSTRACT
The most successful early behavioral
weight loss intervention was published by
Stuart,8 who reported that the eight obese
women he treated lost an average of 17 kg at
the end of 12 months. Stuart’s outstanding
results were the impetus for an outpouring of
research interest in the use of behavioral
strategies in the treatment of obesity.
