ABSTRACT
Hypertension is both more common and more deadly in the two sections of the population whose numbers are increasing most rapidly-older people and those with diabetes. In addition, special management of hypertension must often be provided for another highly susceptible group of patients-those with various concomitant cardiac diseases.
