ABSTRACT

Simple pulmonary eosinophilia or Löffler’s syndrome This condition was first described by Löffler in 1932 and is characterized by migrating pulmonary infiltrates or shadows and peripheral blood (PBL) eosinophilia with minimal or no

pulmonary symptoms. The chest X-ray often demonstrates a combined alveolar and interstitial pattern. Shadowing is usually subpleural, unilateral or bilateral, transient and fleeting. Most patients are eventually diagnosed as having a parasitic infection or a drug reaction but in over a third of patients no cause can be detected.
