ABSTRACT
Digoxin is used for two distinct properties in the
management of heart failure: it reduces the ventricular rate in
patients with atrial fibrillation, and it has a positive inotropic
effect. In Britain, it has primarily been used for the control of
the ventricular response, but elsewhere, particularly in the
United States, digoxin is prescribed much more widely.
