ABSTRACT

I had seen a performance of Dancing to Music by American choreographer Victoria Marks at the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London. Her choreography had a “filmic” quality which I felt would work very well on screen. I was interested to collaborate with Victoria, and I was also keen to work with the mixed-ability dance company CandoCo, so in 1993, we got together and put in an application for BBC/Arts Council of England’s “Dance for the Camera” initiative to make a short dance film.
