ABSTRACT

The actual incidence of hand tumours is rather difficult to assess, because their management is spread out among a number of specialists. Even nowadays, a lot of tumors of the hand are treated by many different specialists: cutaneous tumors are mostly dealt with by dermatologists or plastic surgeons, whereas bone tumors are usually referred to orthopedic surgeons. Also the definition of ‘tumors’ is rather vague, and a number of nontumoral lesions, such as ganglia, inclusion cysts, even Dupuytren’s disease, are often included in series of hand tumors.
