ABSTRACT

At the University of Wollongong any consideration of the integration of generic or transferable skills must start with an examination of the relationship between generic skills and graduate attributes. It is from this relationship that the university's notion of tertiary literacies is constructed. Graduate attributes can be described as capabilities students develop at university that go beyond content. This chapter is an account of how the University of Wollongong's notion of quality higher education led to the explication of a clear relationship between generic skills and graduate attributes and its incorporation into curriculum development.
