ABSTRACT
Absorbed dose. The quantity of radiation energy absorbed by a given material. Measured in the SI unit the gray (q.v.). Formerly measured in rads (q.v.). Also known as radiation absorbed dose.
Activity. The rate at which atomic disintegrations are taking place in a sample of material. Measured in the SI unit the becquerel (q.v.). Formerly measured in curies (q.v.).
