ABSTRACT

Apart from the basic construction of the new extension there will be other matters to consider, especially regarding the services. Electricity will need to be taken into the new extension and various socket outlets and lighting, etc., will need to be provided. The main fuse board to the property will hopefully have a spare fuse that can be used to run a new ring for the power. In most circumstances it is not recommended that the existing ground floor ring be spurred off unless there are only a couple of socket outlets to be provided. If the extension is only going to be used as a living room this may be the case but if it is going to be a kitchen there are likely to be dishwashers, washing machines, and maybe even a cooker that will need its own 35 amp fuse.
