BEFORE INITIATING DISTRESS PROCEDURE:-
Consider your geographical location and consider which Coast Earth Station is best situated to help;
If time permits, write down your DISTRESS message before transmission;
Be aware of User's Handbook instructions for your equipment, particularly with regard to DISTRESS calling; and
The Master's authority is required for DISTRESS, URGENCY, or SAFETY calls.
