ABSTRACT

Space syntax is a method of analysis originally developed by Bill Hillier at the Bardett School of Architecture, London. It has primarily been applied to the analysis of urban space, but can also be used to analyse the spaces within buildings. The undedying principle in the application of this method to urban design is that the spatial layout of urban spaces affects patterns of movement and use.
