ABSTRACT

The previous chapter looked at a case study in which forms of expression beyond conventional CAD modelling techniques formed an important part of the project. GUIs have been developed in which it becomes feasible to use parametric design techniques within CAD modelling environments. The case study in this chapter, however, involves an even further radical departure from conventional CAD modelling, in that all the CAD images shown were produced by working directly within a programming environment. For designers to be able to express their ideas in terms of computer programming languages implies an even greater level of computer literacy than is required for using conventional CAD modelling systems.
