ABSTRACT

The single user method of using CAD systems often doesn’t reflect the structure of a design practice, which by its very nature requires closer collaboration between different teams working on various aspects of the same project. The need for co-operation between architects, structural engineers, service engineers, quantity surveyors, etc. means that it should be possible to see copies of each other’s drawings, not only for reference purposes, but also in order to carry out explicit geometrical constructions on their own layers in relation to underlying ones, e.g. snapping, intersections, etc.
