ABSTRACT

Earlier in this book we noted that the prevailing view of risk — as a negative concept — is under challenge. Writers are now suggesting that focusing only on the consequences of risk events that may threaten or damage an organisation is too negative. It is thought that a persistently negative view of risk may lead to the abandonment of otherwise potentially successful projects; demotivation of project teams; and overly pessimistic attitudes on the part of organisations and the individuals within them.
