ABSTRACT
The talent realm offers particular challenges in terms of the monitoring and evaluation of pupil progress. In many cases some of the most worthwhile development takes place completely outside the curriculum: in extracurricular groups, teams, and activities; and in a whole range of private tuition, from lessons in tabla, to a summer course in pottery, to serious training in judo at the local school of martial arts.
