ABSTRACT

What do we mean by an inclusive approach to talent-spotting? In educational terms the term ‘inclusion’ originated in Special Education, where it referred to programmes designed to meet individual pupils' needs within the classroom alongside other pupils, rather than by removing them to take part in special programmes. Over time, the concept of inclusion in education has been broadened to include a more general philosophy of valuing and including students from every culture, valuing diversity, and overcoming barriers to the access and participation of particular groups of students.
