ABSTRACT

As discussed, in Chapter 2, interdisciplinary teams are not a new phenomenon, but recent policy developments have encouraged and/or stipulated integrated service delivery, stimulating the development of more interdisciplinary teams and a much clearer focus on expectations of those teams. However, it is acknowledged that developing effective interdisciplinary teams is complex and involves consideration of changing cultures, work practices, principles and goals for practitioners involved. The benefits of interdisciplinary working were discussed in detail in Chapter 1 and will be assumed for the purposes of this chapter.
